So you have a big area either in front or on the side of your home, and you would like to make it a little more difficult for peopel to come onto your property. Maybe you have fencing that goes around your yard that is providing a bit of a barrier, and your driveway still leaves a big hole that people can walk through. Maybe you have entrances to your back yard on the sides of your home that are a little too easy to simply walk through and get into your yard. The answer is an iron security gate. If you are considering an iron security gate for around your home, you will have to decide if you want a single gate or a double gate. The decision is usually pretty simple, because there is only so wide that a gate can be and still swing open and closed easily. Iron security gates are heavier than most doors, so if the space that is being covered is more than the width of a single entryway f=door, then it will probably be better over time to install two gates that are less wide, which meet in the middle. This will provide not only easier operation when opening and closing the gates, but it will also age better over time because the weight of the gate itself is not stressing the hinges as much as a lighter one would be. Because most security gates are custom built in order to appropriately fit the space they are installed, there are not exact rules with regards to the width that a security gate must be before it moves to being a double gate, but there are certain guidelines that should be followed for peak performance over time. Your estimator and installer will be able to make suggestions on if you should install a single or a double iron gate. So how effective is an iron gate at keeping people out of your yard? Basically, it is as effective as any security door that is mounted to your home. It is made from the same materials and thicknesses of iron as the entryway gates, and will be just as hard to cut through or break down. A person would have to make a great deal of noise and commotion t breach an iron gate, so for the most part if they want to get into the home they would go around it via jumping over walls or some other entry point. In almost every case, the places that you have created an iron barrier will not be the places that someone enters your space. Iron gates and security doors are the single best method of keeping people out of a private area that exist, and they will provide you with many years of security worry free. Our gates are constructed of high quality iron, and welded for strength at join points. Other companies may use cheaper materials like cast aluminum which only appear solid. Everybody wants their home to be safe and secure. Nobody wants their home to be broken into when they are not there, and they probably want it to happen even less when they are there. If someone is willing to break into your home while you are there, then there is a really good chance that they are willing to harm you and your family. Confrontations of people who are entering your home are not going to be the best way to go, so with all things considered the best forms of security that you can integrate into your home are preventative measures. These are literally things that make it more difficult for the bad people to get in, giving you more time to react if you are home or the police more notice if you are not home. With that said, lets look at what the best forms of home security are. Alarm systems are the most obvious of home security systems. When a person breaches an entryway or a window, an alarm is sounded that will alert the neighbors, police or you if you are home. The alarm systems that notify the police are going to need an ongoing contract for a monthly service to monitor the activity, so be prepared for both the installation charges as well as the monthly fees. The biggest issue with alarm systems is that they only provide notifications of when someone is actually entering the home. Cameras work the same way, basically letting you or others know that there is someone inside of your house. This does almost nothing to stop or slow them down, it just gives them notice that they need to rob you faster because the police may be on the way. While we do suggest having a home security alarm system as part of the total security of a house, we find that alarm systems are not the best method of preventing crime. Iron security doors are the best method of stopping or slowing down the entry into your home. Thieves exploit the easy points of your home to enter, because their main goal is to get in and out as quickly and quietly as possible. They will break windows near doors in order to reach inside and unlock the door, or will simply kick the door hard enough to break the wood around the hinges. While there is a very minimal amount of security involved in simply having a lock on your door, these things do very little to slow down bad people. This is why the installation of security doors made of iron are so much more effective. Iron is so strong that a kick is not going to be able to remove them from their mounts, and if iron bars are installed over windows they are not going to be able to be breached with a simple breakage of glass. Iron installations are going to require a serious amount of work with a saw or possibly a blow torch in order to get through them which will slow a bad guy down significantly. The majority of thieves will simply move on to the next easy target, as opposed to risking getting caught because of the noise they are going to generate trying to break in. If you are ready for actual home security, invest in a security door made of iron.
There has been an issue with many iron security doors over the years that is a constant source of irritation for home owners. You install a beautiful iron security door in the entryway of your home so as to protect yourself and your family from break ins, and as a result of having a locked door in front of your home the people who deliver packages just start leaving them in front of the door. Because this puts the packages right out in public view, they get stolen way more often than if the mailman just hid them in your entryway! So basically as a trade off for having a more secure home that is not broken into, you get your deliveries stolen more often. Many people end up deciding to just keep their security door unlocked as a result of the hassles of losing packages, which completely misses the point of having an iron security door in the first place. Luckily, we have a solution. A "prime box" is a specialized iron box that is built into your gate itself, or bolted securely to the concrete in front of your home. They are constructed from 1 inch by 1 inch iron and a 1/16 perforated screen, securely welded together. The way they work is pretty simple, they are left unlocked and when a delivery is made they put the package into the box. They then close the lid which automatically locks the box, keeping your valuable packages safe until you get home to retrieve them. These boxes solve the issues that surround security gates that keep everyone out, including those people delivering packages. If you are getting an iron security door made, consider building a prime box into it at the point of construction. For a few hundred dollars you will avoid the obvious problems that come with package delivery to homes that have security measures built in. If you do not like the look of a box that is integrated into your gate, or you already have a gate existing and you are looking for a solution, they can be built to be affixed to your home or walkway in front of your home, which will significantly reduce the amount of losses due to package theft. It will also educe break ins due to home owner error. This is when a home owner without a prime box leaves their iron security door unlocked because they know a package is being delivered. Thieves will often follow delivery trucks around neighborhoods, and they are not looking for the packages that are being delivered. Instead, they are aware that many home owners will leave their gates and doors unlocked when a package is being delivered, making the home a prime target on those days. If the delivery person is seen ringing the doorbell then leaving the package, the thief knows that nobody is home and the gates and security doors are unlocked. Your lack of security was exposed and the thief didn't even have to be the one to do it, he just lets the UPS or mail man do it for him. Don't be a victim, get an iron security door and install a prime box with it.
So you have a new home and you are worried about somebody breaking in and stealing your possessions. Maybe you have read stories about how thieves cruise through neighborhoods on trash day looking for boxes that televisions and stereo equipment come in, so that they know that inside your home is some new equipment that they can sell easily for large amounts of cash. Maybe you have been hearing stories about thieves targeting homes in your neighborhood because they are easy marks, or have large populations of people that work during the same times of day. Bad people are generally lazy, and will break into the homes that provide them the easiest access and the least amount of risk of being caught. For this reason, the best thing that you can do to protect yourself and your family is to install some security measures.
Alarm systems are good, and they will generally alert either yourself or a private security company if they are tripped. The private security company will quickly assess the situation and choose to contact the police or not. If you are the one being notified through your computer or smart phone, you will then need to make a quick determination if there is an actual intruder or if it was tripped by something else. No matter what, these determinations are being made after the person has gained entry, and are designed to assist authorities in catching the person either before they leave, or getting them on camera to provide police with a description. These measures are not designed to keep people out of the house, they are designed to help catch them once they have entered. A better method of security is prevention. This means utilizing systems that actually stop the person from ever entering the home in the first place, instead of just telling you once they are inside. The best method of securing a home is the installation of iron security doors into the entryways, and placing iron bar coverings over the windows. This will make it so that a thief would need to take the time and make the noise necessary to cut through iron in order to gain access. Thieves generally smash a window or kick in a door in order to gain easy access, and iron security doors make this nearly impossible. It would take a long time to cut through the iron, and most bad guys are not going to spend the time or effort to get in, and instead will move to the next easy target. Prevention of access is actual safety, whereas an alarm just functions to try and stop them once they are committing a crime. Because Las Vegas is seeing a rise in crime as our population grows, looking into protecting yourself and your home is a good idea. Don't be the victim, be the one that they decide not to victimize. Security of you home is almost always one of the top priorities of a home owner or renter. The protection of your personal property against break-ins, as well as the prevention of personal harm due to someone entering your home is one of the most important aspects of the space you live within, so naturally home owners want to do everything in their power to prevent unwanted entry to their homes or businesses both when they are there and when they are not. This is best accomplished through the use of tools that are integrated into the home for these purposes, generally in the form of alarm systems or security measures that are meant to slow down entry. The combination of these two types of devices is generally the best prevention method.
Alarms integrated through your home which will alert either a private security company, the police or yourself if an area is breached are one of the most effective measures of preventing theft or harm. These cameras and alarms will either scare the person with the use of a loud alarm sound on the premises, or potentially accompany this sound with a notification to some authority or service. Cameras can now notify you of movement and sound inside or outside your home through your phone in addition to notification of the police, but these measures are essentially put in place once a person has already entered, or is attempting to enter. The idea is to either scare them away with a fear of being caught, or get the police to the house fast enough to catch them in the act. The alarm system itself actually does nothing to make the break in more difficult, it only makes it more possible to catch the person who has broken in. Prevention of access to the home is even more effective than an alarm system. Thieves want to act without being noticed, and as a result want to act as quickly as possible. By creating security measures that actually prevent access to the home, or slow it down considerably, you will prevent the person from ever getting inside in the first place, which is a line of defense that no alarm can promise. This is accomplished through the use of security gates and door, or security bars mounted over windows. These types of measures make it far more difficult for a person to enter a home, because the kicking in of a door or the breaking of a window is not enough to gain access. They will have to spend time and make noise actually cutting through or removing the security measures that have been attached to the house itself, and most criminals are not going to spend the time doing this as well as making noise during the attempt. The best access prevention tools that can be used as part of your security system are iron security doors. These are typically seen in the form of ornamental iron combined with structural iron pieces welded together to form a barrier to entryways that is both beautiful and functional to prevent access to the home. A person would literally have to cut through iron bars in order to gain access, which is going to prevent nearly any person from making the attempt. When iron security doors are places over all entryways in the home, as well as iron security measures placed n windows and any other entryway, you will create a situation that makes it nearly impossible for anyone unauthorized to enter the residence. It is the kind of piece of mind that an alarm cannot provide. Yes, it is nice to know when someone has broken in, but wouldn't it be better to prevent the break in all together? |
