Las Vegas is a wonderful place to raise a family, and anyone who has been in Las Vegas for any length of time will tell you that there are specific areas that are a better choice than others if security is your goal. Naturally nobody wants to be broken into and have their things stolen or their family harmed, so most people will choose their living conditions based upon the most security they can afford. This will probably be a combination of a home in the area that is judged as the safest that the person can afford, and the additions of security elements like cameras, alarms and security doors and windows. Generally, the safer the area is in general will dictate the amount of additional security elements that are installed after the move in, but rest assured that there is no such thing as a completely crime free area. Even the exclusive gated communities and areas that have security patrols have issues with crime, and a home owner must do everything in their power to protect themselves as much as they can. This is why you will see high level iron gates and security doors in expensive homes just as much as you will see them in lesser expensive homes. Generally the feeling of needing something to dissuade a break in is not relegated to the lower income areas, and the only real difference between iron security doors on million dollar homes is that they are more ornate. No matter what your income level, a custom iron security door will add to your home's safety and your personal feeling of security. The more difficult it is for a thief to enter your home, the more chance there is that they will simply choose a different house that is easier to access. This is the role of the iron security door.
In Las Vegas, a screen door can be the difference between enjoying those perfect days just before summer gets really hot and those perfect days after summer has ended. Sure it gets too hot in the summer to have your door opened, and it gets too cold in the winter, but there are a few months in there where a screen door will give you that perfect temperature inside your house without running the heat or the air conditioner. Everyone in Las Vegas knows that heating and cooling your house can get really expensive, so any chance we have to save some money when the weather is perfect outside needs to be taken. A screen door will allow you to have a barrier for animals or insects that the breeze can still pass through, and we all know how much we need that from time to time. Keep your door open for just a few hours in Las Vegas and you are probably going to find flies, mosquitoes and worst of all scorpions in your house. Anyone who has ever found a scorpion will attest to the value of a screen door.
Any house with an entry from one point to another is going to need to put a gate up if they are going to prevent children or pets from getting in or out, or preventing unwanted people or animals from coming in. A gate is a pretty simple thing, just some form of barrier that separates the two areas and which can be closed so that there is difficulty getting across. The more elaborate and secure the gate is will depend on it’s necessity. If you have an animal that has a propensity to squeeze through the openings, then you will need a gate with more rails. If you have an area that is a possible weak spot where criminals could enter into your personal space, then maybe more security aspects will need to be built in. The gate itself is defined by the function and role it will play, and how well it does it’s job will be defined by the builder.
There are many different levels of homes in Las Vegas, ranging from small track homes that are built as starters for lower income people to get into the market, all the way up to multi-million dollar custom homes that are designed from scratch to cater to the every whim of the owner. You can find homes of all different types and construction styles, however the majority of homes that you will find that were built over the course of the last 20 years generally have a few features that are the same. Most of the homes are made of stucco and most of them will have roofs that are made of clay tiles. These choices are specifically designed for the desert climate in order to better insulate and protect against the extreme heat in Las Vegas. While the style of the home will usually be influenced by specific climate aspects, these can be used in many different configurations and styles that will reflect the personal tastes of the owners as well as the levels of functionality and security that are desired. The choices are truly endless, as long as you care about the home you live in. No matter what economic level you operate on, there are ways that you can improve your existing home without breaking the bank. Even small improvements to your home will give you the personal satisfaction of knowing that you made life better for yourself and at the same time increased the resale values that you would see if you decided to sell and move.
People in Las Vegas will often struggle with ways that they can upgrade their homes without breaking the bank. A new kitchen can run more than 20 thousand dollars, and even though it will probably add a lot of value to the home, it is difficult to come up with that kind of money in order to make an improvement to the home, especially when it is not completely necessary in order to function properly. Upgrades of almost any kind are this same type of issue, difficult to manage until they are completely rendered without function because there is always somewhere else that needs the money allocated to it. One of the ways that this mentality can be overcome is when it is not a replacement of an existing item that is working properly, but instead is an addition to the home in the form of a built in. A “built in” is an item that would stay with the home upon it’s sale, ultimately adding to the value that the home currently has if it is sold to another party. Built ins will also generally add some sort of new beauty or function to the house that it did not have before, so even if you are not selling anytime soon it will make your enjoyment of the space be improved. Examples of built ins include plantation shutters or cabinetry that is connected to walls.
So you have purchased a home in Las Vegas, and you are considering some improvements that might not only add some value to the home, but also give you a little piece of mind. One of the easiest ways to improve your home's resale value is to add to the security measures that have been taken by any previous owners. This might seem a little unfortunate because we all want to think of our neighborhood as safe, but what you have to think about is the fact that crimes happen in good neighborhoods as well as bad ones.
